– I know Krum since April 2005, when he took his first exam in optimization. Since then he has shown a deep interest in optimization and has done two more exams with excellent grades. His outstanding Master Thesis done in collaboration with Evonik Industries concerned several optimization problems as well. Krum is a very active student. He does not only graduated with honors, but also takes part in the university policy and shows a strong social responsibility. He is very open-minded and interested in various topics, not only mathematics. His internship by Brose and his minors in Computer Science and Work Sciences are a clear sign for his multidisciplinarity. Krum has perseverance, initiative and intellectual creativity. His multiple research activities in the fields of computer science, ecology, ect. and systematic personal development made him familiar with research in an university and in the industry as well. Therefore I highly recommend Krum. Prof. Dr. Alexander Martin, TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2008.
– I know Krum since he took his first exam with me in 2004. He has been a very diligent and interesting student who took the opportunity to research in different fields during his studies, e.g. informatics, mathematics, ergonomics, ecology. Krum has been one of our international student (actually the only one) who showed his openness to university politics questions and tried to find solutions to arising problems. He engaged also in extra-curricular activities.
I have the pleasure to recommend Krum for a PhD degree or other post-graduate studies. His steadfastness in his research both in mathematics and other fields allows him to persue and acheive his aims. The broadness of his interests and his personal development will allow him to perform his tasks. Prof. Dr. Jürgen Lehn, TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2007.
– I know Krum since October 2003, when he successfully took his first exam in numerical analysis. His notes in the exams held by me and some of my collegue-professors do not represent his real achievement well enough. Krum took part in the newly and specially concepted studies in Mathematics and Computer Science for foreign students without previous german language skills. From the second study year all lectures, exercises and exams were told and held in german. The organisational difficulties and bureaucracy had as a consequence that only the very few students (less than 10%) managed to finish in time. Krum was not only among them, but also the first one, although he had to work 20 hours a week for his living. He had to go through most of the difficulties first. He coped with them perfectly and worked always for a general formal solution for all other fellow students. Such commitment can be found also in his other activities, such as the Summer School.
His notes from the bulgarian high school diploma are sensational – best notes in all study fields. His achievement from the bachelor examinations is on paper not the best, but if we take into account his purposefulness, engagement, cosmopolitanism, networking and contacts and all of the difficulties he had, then he is a really good candidate for a promotion. He will be definitely a good master student. Prof. Dr. Martin Kiehl, TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2005.
– Krum worked at the Institute Production Management, Technology und Machine Tools for three years. He has diverse and comprehensive knowledge and skills. He manages to identify and use complicated and interconnected context. He puts fast correct priorities, finds good solutions and acts accordingly. Krum’s performance is good even under strong pressure. He works very relisably and exact. His readiness for action, flexibility, team work and self-dependance are also remarkable. He takes voluntarily responsibility. Krum has a clear and logical thinking, which makes it possible to confidently and correctly take decisions. Udo Hermenau and Stefan Feickert, Research Group Environmentally Friendly Product and Process Development, TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2005.
– Krum worked as a tutor of the Sommer School for students from USA and Canada in 2003 and 2004. He organizes several excursions. Both the students and the Summer School direction evaluate his work positive. Britta Hufeisen, Language Learning Center Principal of the TU Darmstadt, Germany, 2004.
– Krum is one of the first members (since 1997) of the youth section of the Bulgarian Society for Protection of Birds (BSPB), partner of BirdLife International for Bulgaria. He is a regular attendant of all our general assemblies and meetings, as well as theoretical lectures and discussions on different topics which take place once a week. His work is entirely voluntary, so it’s due to his love and compassion on nature. He helps us to popularize our society among young people in Bulgaria and increase the social interest in environmental protection. He has several puclications in our magazine “About Birds”. Boris Barov, Executive Director, BSPB / BirdLife Bulgaria, 2002.
– I know Krum since 1997 and I was his high school teacher for three years. Krum has diverse interests and skills. He is a class deputy and school speaker. He always stands up for the students interests. Marlena Robova, school principal and biology teacher, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2002.
– I know Krum since 1997 and I was his high school teacher for five years. He has a high intellectual potential; exact and analytical mind; and mathematic talent. Those combined with diligence, good organisation and concentration skills makes it possible for him to understand highly complex matters. And also to find inventive and creative solutions of problems. It is easy to communicate with Krum, because of his nice character – social, companionable, considerate and respectable. He shares his knowledge and skills with his team-mates and helps them. Krum always manages to build an appropriate opinion and to explain it clearly and logically. He has clear moral, ethical and aesthetic principles. Krum has a creative potential in harmony with his environment. Tanya Stoeva, geometry teacher, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2002.
